My View is a participatory learning experience for eighth-grade students, supporting View Chicago’s vision and adapting it for the Daniel Burnhams of tomorrow.
This newly developed curriculum provides a meaningful culmination to students’ K–8 progress. Students read about and analyze individuals in Chicago’s past and write inspiring plans for the future — both the city’s and their own. They also prepare presentations and displays to inspire other students at their schools. My View seeks to broaden their future learning, opening up new pathways to possibilities.
All activities that comprise My View are aligned with Common Core literacy standards. The curriculum was developed by View Chicago’s education partners at the DePaul Center for Urban Education in collaboration with the Chicago History Museum. Hundreds of Chicago students have already participated in the learning experience as part of a pilot program.
